10 Years!!!

In one week K and I will have been married for 10 years! Wow how time flies by! I can't say that the past 10 years have just all been absolutely wonderful, but I can say that there is no one else in the world that I would have rather been with through all of our ups and downs of the past 10 years. We've moved about 10 times and had 2 adorable boys. I can hardly remember my life without my K. He is the most awesome husband, friend, and father. I can't wait to spend the rest of eternity with him!!

I did it!

I finished all of the wooden signs that I was painting for Christmas gifts! Yeah! What a relief. Now I just need to . . . . . .

Awesome Neighbors

I just want to say we have the best neighbors and friends! With fibromyalgia I can't take my boys outside to play in the snow. And it snowed ALL day long. And Kaleb had to work clearing walks for the university housing. So our wonderful friends let the boys play outside with them. Some of them even let our boys come inside and play and fed them! What wonderful friends we have!!! Thank you!!!

But It's Not the Winter Solstice!

Upon waking Maxwell up for school this morning I informed him that it had snowed last night (barely enough to cover the grass and just enough to have to clear off the windows of the car). His reply, "But it's not the winter solstice!" Woah! Where did he learn about the winter solstice? I guess he is learning more in school then we thought, yeah!

Winter Has Come

It may not look like winter outside, since there is no snow yet and it's December 1st.....BUT my body will definitely tell you winter is here. I'm so lucky with my fibromyalgia I seem to catch everything from everyone. Right now I've got a lovely cold and I'm supposed to go to choir practice tonight. If I tried to sing right now I think I would be a bass...hahaha. So I'll just have to go and sit in the corner and sing along in my head. Our concert is on December 16th so I really can't afford to miss.
So I'm trying to decide....is it better that we don't have the snow and I'm still sick like I am all winter every winter....or have the snow and be sick? I guess we really need the moisture so we have water all summer. But I guess I'm glad I haven't had to clear the car or drive in the snow. :)

Oh So FRUSTRATING!!!

So I've been sitting at the computer for two hours now, starting just before midnight, trying to register for classes for next semester. Supposedly if you are a senior, which both Kaleb and I are, you could register at 12:01 am. BUT....the crazy USU server won't let us sign in to register cause there are probably a gazillion other students trying to do the same thing so they can get the classes that they want, cause they are only offered at one time and if I don't get it then it will throw off the whole schedule.......grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!

UPDATE-----it is now 2:48 AM and I was just about to give up and go to bed when the server let me in and YEAH I got all of the classes that I wanted and Kaleb got all but one, but it's one that is new this semester and they put that 0 people could take the class. He'll have to work on that one in the day time.

Halloween 2008

Happy Halloween

Maxwell and Jensen were Tom and Jerry for Halloween. I had a great time making their costumes and they even won a prize at the MASA carnival that we went too. We carved pumpkins, went to the pumpkin walk, went to two carnivals, trunk or treating, and trick or treating. The boys have way more candy then two little bodies will ever need, but they had a great time!

October Fun

A little ingredient we didn't know to add, water, makes a HUGE difference in wether or not the carmel works out! At least we will know for next time.

What a most disappointing ending to a game! At the half we were down at 13 to 14. Then with only 1:40 left in the game we scored a touch down for a score of 28 to 27. We thought we had won!!! Then FS moved down the field and we ran them out of bounds and the clock on the scoreboard said 0:00. The official said "Put 2 seconds on the clock" WHAT??? Then FS kicked a 58 yard field goal! The whole stands were in complete shock!! Darn! We thought we had won. Oh, well, we still had a fun time.

Fall Break 2008

We started out the day with a trip to Cabela's, the big outdoor sportsmen’s store in American Fork. The boys loved it! The store has more than 100 taxidermied animals. Also, a large aquarium with tons of fish. While we were there they announced that feeding time would be in 5 minutes. So we hurried over to the tanks and saw them feed the fish. Grandma and Grandpa bought the boys all Cabela's hats. Here's Grandpa Dennis, Maxwell, Jensen, and Kaleb in front of the store.

After lunch we went to the Scarecrow Festival at Thanksgiving Point. The line was so long that we thought we were at Disneyland. This was our first time going so we were hoping it would be worth the wait! Here's Grandma Debbie, Maxwell, Grandpa Dennis, and Kaleb waiting in line. Jensen and I decided to sit down on the curb to wait.

We tried to convince him that it was all going to be fun stuff and nothing scary, but he wouldn't believe us until he got inside and saw for himself. When we were leaving he said, "That wasn't scary, that was fun."

Watch out Jensen is driving already! But he's too short to reach the pedals, so Kaleb went with him to power the car.

But Maxwell could pedal and steer the car all on his own and he LOVED it!

While the boys were waiting in line to jump the weather man from channel 5, Dan Pope, came and did the weather. Boy was he wearing a lot of make-up! I guess they have to wear that much for TV. If you look you can see Kaleb with his hat and glasses on and then Maxwell in a black shirt and Jensen in a red shirt with a black hat, standing in the background.

Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Dennis left while the boys were still in line, to go home and start dinner, dutch oven pork and apples, mmmmm. We had a great day! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for spending the day with us!

It's Back to School I Go!

So I was online and thought I would check to see if there was a major at USU that a lot of my credits (155 of them already to be exact) could fit into. I printed off the worksheet and it looked close, so I made an appointment with the advisor. She went over the major and plugged my credits into the worksheets. Then we asked how long it would take me to finish and how many credits I would need to take and whalla! I can graduate in two semesters (14 credits one semester and 12 the other) with my Bachelors of Art degree in Liberal Arts! Yeah! So I applied, got reaccepted, got financial aid and I start in January. I'm excited and can't wait to finally get my BA degree.

Football Game

Maxwell and Kaleb went to the USU football game today and we actually won! Unfortunately, it was very windy and one of the umbrella's from a vendor came flying into the stands and hit Maxwell in the shoulder. He got scraped but it's ok. Kaleb went to the vendor and said your flag hit my son, so does he get a free blanket and they agreed.

Quirks

Aw man....I got tagged, now I have to let you all know 6 quirks about me (which I guess should be easy since I have OCD). So my double sister-in-law, Rachel, tagged me. So here goes:

1. Dishes: it's just easier to put them away if you organize them when they are drying in the drainer and on the towel, right???

2. Getting ready for the day: I just have to do everything in the same order. Now I know it would just not work to put on conditioner before shampoo, but do I really need to clean my ears, then my nose, use my toner, then contacts. My mind tells me that I won't forget something if I do it this way, go figure.

3. Organizing: my closet used to be in rainbow order, now just like things are together. All of my craft things have their own place. Everything in the house really has it's place and it just makes it easier to find things. Plus we can fit more stuff in our tiny apartment if we organize it just right.

4. I don't fold or put away my kids laundry. I wash it for them. I just won't fold or put it away. They are 6 and 8 and can fold it themselves and put it away. If I put it away I see that their clothes are not in perfect stacks in their drawers and I really want to pull everything out of their drawers and organize them perfectly. But that won't teach them to take care of their clothes and it doesn't help my OCD either.

5. If you tell me you are going to do something...you better do it!! Or you better tell me why you can't, preferably before hand. If something comes up or you have an emergency you better tell me or I will think you just flaked out on me and thought that I wasn't worth doing what you promised me you would do.

6. I love to craft! (this may not seem like a quirk, but it really is) I could craft all day long and long into the night too! Once I start a project I really want to finish it. I can visualize the finished project in my head and completely plan out how to make it, without any instructions. I'm trying to figure out how to make this quirk make me money....

$32 BUCKS!!!!!

Are you insane??? Maxwell wanted to go to the football game with Kaleb. So I called the ticket office and they said that it would cost $32 bucks! I said for my 8 year-old? And they said yes. Why?? Because it is the USU vs. UofU game. So I asked how much for the other games and it is $17 bucks. Luckily one of my neighbors told me about the coupon on the bags from a local grocery store for $7 tickets; however, they don't work for the UofU or BYU games. So sorry Maxwell, but we will have to wait for USU to play someone else before we can afford to go to the game.

Buddy Pockets and Breakfast

Here's some pictures of the boys' buddy pockets, one of my unfinished projects that is now finished, YEAH!!! They hang next to their beds and hold all of their stuffed animals so they have room to sleep on their beds. The boys love them and I think they look pretty cool hanging on the wall.




So I'm really not a morning person, but this morning I decided to make the boys some eggs for breakfast. Usually they have cold cereal (but all that was left was Rice Krispies) or they eat breakfast at school (but I didn't feel like taking them this morning). So I cooked some eggs and even managed to burn my finger while dishing them up. I knew there was a reason why I don't cook breakfast!

Reliv Results

Two months ago I started taking a product called Reliv. It has completely changed my life!!!! It is a powdered dietary supplement that has vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc. and you mix it up in a drink. I take it three times a day and I buy it from my younger sister who sells it. When I went to New Mexico this summer my mom offered to pay for a months supply for me to try it. I agreed, hoping that it would help my fibromyalgia. After one week I was already starting to feel better! Now I rarely have aching muscles and joints and I can do so much more! I have tons more energy and I just feel like I can do anything that I want to. And as a bonus I have started loosing weight! I've already lost 10 pounds!!! YEAH!!! I just feel like I used to before I starting getting sick and before I had my kids! I am finishing so many projects that have been pilling up for forever. Maxwell's Baptism

Today Maxwell was baptized and confirmed by his dad, Kaleb. We are so proud of him for choosing to be baptized! We also can hardly believe that we are old enough to have our first child get baptized! The day started out like we had planned, up at 8, breakfast, frosting the cupcakes, and getting on Sunday clothes. Then we got a phone call and they said that the church had been double booked and that the font room had computers and wires and overheads and the whole church was that way because of a genealogy conference. They said that the first available font was not until 3pm. We said that just couldn't work for us as all of our family was already almost here and they had to travel for two hours - one way. The baptism was supposed to be at 10:30am and it was already 9:30. Luckily we have some friends that live out on the west side of town (yea! Jesse and Chelcie). So we called them and they called their stake and found out that there was an opening for their font from 11 - 12 am. So we said great! We called our bishop and family and friends and gave them the new address. By now we had all of the out of town family here at our house. So we had them follow us out to the church. We were only supposed to provide half of the program as the other child that was supposed to get baptized at 10:30 was going to have their family do the other half. So we hurried and asked family members to step-in and help. Thankfully, God helped everyone that we invited and needed to be there get there. We had a wonderful program and then Kaleb baptized and confirmed Maxwell. We had both grandparents there and aunts and uncles and cousins, friends, and Maxwell's primary teachers. After the baptism we came back here for some very yummy kalua pork (thanks to da Weights) with Grandma Debbie's rolls and very yummy salads (thanks to all fam/friends that brought them)! Even though we had a hiccup in the plans everything turned out great, as it always does when we put our trust in the Lord.

Camping?!?!?

So for Labor Day weekend we decided to go camping. We got all excited and decided to go to Crystal Hot Springs for $15 a night. On their website it said they had water, showers, bathrooms, fire pits, water slides, swimming, a little lake for fishing, and a crawdad pond. So we got all packed-up and first had to go down to Salt Lake for family pictures on Saturday morning. Then after a fun family picnic we left for camping. We got there and signed-in, it went down-hill from there! We went to our reserved camping spot and found dirt and a huge old tree stump! We went back to the office and traded for another spot and yeah it was right by a water spout. So we started unloading and we found a picnic table to drag over and they said they would bring us a fire pit. We were still in dirt and dead grass, but we thought it would be okay. So we tried to fill-up our water jug and guess what no water! We had to get in the truck and drive back down to the office to fill-up the water jug, ugggg! Then we discovered that you had to hike all the way down the hill and around the office and pool to get to the bathrooms. Then they tried to bring us a fire pit with a hole in the bottom of it, Kaleb refused and made the guy find us a better one, which still had a hole, but at least it sat on the ground and was a smaller hole than the first one. So we made dinner, which was yummy and roasted marshmallows. It sprinkled in the night and I had to hike to the bathroom with stall doors that didn't close or lock. The showers were like junior high gym class, one large stall with three shower heads. -- Now mind you, I went camping a lot growing up and I really don't mind ruff camping as long as I know before hand that that is what I am getting into. This place was sooooo disappointing because their website made it sound like it was a really nice camp ground and we did pay $15 a night! -- So the next morning I woke-up with puffy swollen eyes that were burning and itching and watery. We decided that we would probably go home after lunch and then do something fun in Logan on Monday. Then the people next to us listened to the weather report and said the forecast was thunder and rain for the night and the next day. So we ate lunch and packed-up. The boys were very disappointed and we were too. But on the way home we watched the storm roll in and the sky got very dark. We heard a weather warning on the radio for up to 70 mph winds and lighting and they said anyone outside should take shelter. We got home, unpacked the truck, and it started raining 10 minutes later and didn't stop until almost lunch time the next day. We were sure glad we came home! We want to go camping again, but never at Crystal Hot Springs!

Happy Birthday Maxwell!!

Today is Maxwell's 8th Birthday! He is going in for his baptism interview with the bishop this morning. We can hardly believe that our chubby little baby is eight years old! He has been such a great addition to our family! We couldn't imagine our life without him, nor would we want to. We love you Maxwell!!

Wish I Had A Car ....

We won again! At Kaleb's work party we won tickets to the Diamond Rio concert up in Preston, ID. So last Friday we got a babysitter and went out to dinner at Iggy's (to use our gift card from winning the dessert contest) and then drove up to Preston, ID for the concert. Here's a picture of Kaleb and I waiting for the concert to start.

I know it's hard to see, but this really is a picture of Diamond Rio. I didn't realize that I knew all the words to all of the songs until I found myself singing along to all the songs. We had a blast, but they only played for a little over an hour. I guess that is typical of a county fair concert.

I tried to load a video of them singing "Norma Jean Riley", but I couldn't figure out how to do it. It was fun to have a date night and to have half of our dinner paid for and free tickets to the concert. We need to win more often!

First and Second Grade!!!

Today is Maxwell and Jensen's first day of school. Maxwell is in second grade and Jensen is in first. The school had a back-to-school morning, where all of the parents could come with their kids from 9-10am. We met their teachers and found their cubbies and found some old friends. They will have a great day! And mom gets 6 hours to herself....yeah!!! Hmmm....What should I do first? I think I'll go shopping...no kids to whine, or hide in the clothes racks, or climb on the toilet paper shelfs and hide. My kids are great, but they are kids and they are boys, but I still love them!

Update on Jensen

So all of the test results are in and they don't know what Jensen has except that it is a bacterial infection. All of the tests came back negative, including mono and hepatitist. He's not contagious, which is great. We have to give him motrin every 6 hrs. or his temp goes back-up (the doctor says that can be expected for the next 3 or 4 days). He is also taking an antibiotic. We go back in on Monday to have his liver enzymes checked again. School starts on Wednesday next week so I really hope he is all better to start school.

In the Hospital

Jensen went for his well child check-up on Tuesday and the doctor said he was doing great. Then on Wednesday he said his tummy hurt and when I gave him a hug he felt warm. So I took his temp and it was 100.7 and so I gave him some medicine, but couldn't get his temp to go back down to normal and in the night it went up to 101.2. So on Thursday I took him to the doctor early in the morning and his temp was still up to 101.7 and they checked his urine and were concerned that with the temp and the pain that his appendix might have an infection. So we had to go have
blood drawn and get contrast for him to drink for a CT scan in the afternoon. It was NOT fun to have his blood drawn, poor guy, he's so tiny any ways. The contrast was supposed to taste good, it smelled like grape kool-aid, but Jensen said it tasted awful and his face showed it. So he drank and drank and then right before we went in for the CT scan he threw it all up. What a waste! So they put an iv in his little arm and did the scan. The blood work showed his liver enzymes were double normal and the scan showed that he had some swollen lymph nodes in his abdomin. The doctor said that he was extremely dehydrated. So we decided to have him admitted to the hospital where they pumped him full of fluids through his arm, cause he really didn't feel like eating or drinking, and they checked his temp every couple of hours and gave him motrin to bring the temp down. I stayed the night with him and we got up to go potty every couple of hours. The first pic shows one of the monitors they had on him. We had to unhook the monitors every time he goes potty and when he says he needs to go potty he means NOW!!! So in the night his temp got up to 102.6 and I was glad we were in the hospital. In the early morning his temp started to go down and I could tell he was starting to feel better because he arranged his buddies on his bed and told me I had to go sleep in the hard chair, then he said he was just kidding. When the doctor came in the morning he said that Jensen was well hydrated and his temp was down to normal, but his liver enzymes had gone up again and he had a left bump in his blood work, which point to a bacterial infection. The exact infection tests would take longer to get the results, but we could go home, keep him drinking and on motrin and check his temp, he also gave him an antibiotic to take. The doctor said he would call us when he gets the results of the rest of the tests. So Jensen is doing good but is still tired and we have to keep reminding him not to play to hard and to rest so his body can get well. Me -- it was hard seeing your little guy getting poked 3 times for blood work and once for the iv. I was so worried about him, but he was so scared too, so I stayed strong for him. Kaleb and one of our friends gave Jensen a blessing right before the CT scan and I think that really helped a lot. I've almost caught up on sleep, one night of little sleep takes me forever to catch up on with my fibromyalgia. I'm so glad that we went to the hospital for the one night so Jensen could get better, but we are glad to be home! The good things from this .... Jensen got about 40 stickers from the blood draw and the CT scan, he got a cool bag that looks like a school bus, and he got to eat jello and a sucker for breakfast and dinner!

August Already?!

I can't believe that it is August already! The summer has gone by so much faster than I had planned. This month brings our family some exciting new firsts. Maxwell will turn 8 on his b-day and then get baptized the first weekend of September. This will be our first kid getting baptized. I can hardly believe that I am old enough and have been married long enough to have a child getting baptized. However, we are so excited that he has chosen to get baptized! Another first is that both Maxwell and Jensen will be in school all day and so I get the day to myself. I am so excited to work on projects that have been waiting for years! Kaleb says I won't know what to do and will just sleep the day away, but I have so many things that I want to do that I am not worried about that. Kaleb also starts back to school this month and is a little worried that he has Chemistry and Biology this semester. At least with August is means that we are getting closer to cooler weather! :)

Maxwell and Jensen played baseball in June. Maxwell was on the Phillies, coaches pitch, and Jensen was on the Pirates, t-ball. They both had tons of fun and want to know when they can sign-up to play again. Here's some pictures of my boys playing ball.
